Afaq Sabir, a student of ICS, was awarded with the gold medal and a commendation certificate during a ceremony held in a private college of Khanewal on Saturday. Afaq, son of senior journalist Sabir Saleem, had secured top position in ICS part-I examinations.
DCO Khalid Mehmood Sh, DPO Jhanzeb Nazir Khan, former provincial minister Haji Irfan Ahmad, Prof Ismail, Deputy Director Colleges Abrar Ahmed Aabi, DMO Sohaib Iqbal and principal Kamran Malik were guests of honour.
Addressing the students, the DCO said the government was taking revolutionary measures to achieve 100% literacy rate in the country. In this regards, he also urged the students to fully utilise their energies for education. He said the development of a nation is impossible without education. He added that in this regards, the government is also facilitating the teachers’ community by enhancing their salary packages.
Irfan Ahmad said that talented students should be encouraged and must be awarded as it encourages and motivates the students. The DPO encouraged the students, and said that hard working and devotion for the cause is the only key to success.
