Hillary Clinton has given useful tips to President Zardari ahead of his visit to White House next week. In her statement before the US Congress Subcommittee on Appropriations on Thursday 23 April 2009, the US Secretary of State admitted that Al-Qaeda was a by-product of the American proxy war against Soviet Union in Afghanistan during 1979-89. This is the argument President Zardari and his team should pursue while talking to President Obama and his team in the White House. Pakistan should claim a fair and substantial amount for a one-time compensation for the Afghan war and revise all agreement inked by General Musharraf and General Zialul Haq. President Zardari should also tell the American President that we are no more in need of financial aid or military help from the US administration because it always backfires. -BASHIR HUSSAIN AZAD, Chitral, via e-mail, April 26.
