RAWALPINDI (Online) - General Stanley A McChrystal, Commander International Security Assistance Forces, Afghanistan visited General Headquarters and called on Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Friday. According to Spokesman of the Pakistan Army, the visiting dignitary remained with COAS for some time and discussed matters of professional interest. It was reliably learnt that issues including the current security situation in Afghanistan, new US strategy for Afghanistan and regional security came under discussion during the meeting besides ongoing operation against militants. During the meeting, both leaders expressed their resolve to make the exchange of intelligence more efficient. Both the high-ups urged the need for taking each other into confidence before any action on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border. According to the sources, General Kayani made it clear that US-led military actions should remain within Afghan territory and emphasised the need for intelligence sharing with Pakistani security forces. The COAS reminded the visiting US dignitary that sacrifices rendered by Pakistani security forces were far higher than the coalition forces in Afghanistan. General Stanley highly acclaimed the sacrifices and services of Pakistan Army in war against terrorism, terming it invaluable.
