ISLAMABAD Lingering row between the Government and the Supreme Court over the implementation of Apex Courts verdict on NRO has led to yet another casuality on Friday when Secretary Law and Justice Aqil Mirza also tendered his resignation. Earlier, Former Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan also had resigned from his office in row with Law Minister Babar Awan for his defying conduct on NRO verdict of the Apex Court. After his resignation, Federal Law Secretary Aqil Mirza has also parted his ways with the Government for its contemptuous attempt. However, Mirza has resigned from his post as the Federal Law Secretary under the pretext of unstable health condition but it is equally interesting to note that his resignation came a day after Attorney General Maulvi Anwar ul Haq quoted him saying before a five member larger bench of the Apex Court headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk that Swiss cases now was a closed chapter and there was no need to write any letter in this connection. Later, in his media talk he said that it was not his personal stance but of the governments. It is relevant to mention here that Justice (Retd) Aqil Mirza earlier had appeared before the Supreme Court to apprise it regarding NRO implementation process especially re-opening of graft charges of $ 60 million against President Asif Ali Zardari. He told the Court that he sought directions from certain quarters regarding dispatching of letters to Swiss Authority written by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for reopening of cases. He could not satisfy the Court in this regard and the Court advised him to strictly adhere to the Courts order rather than anyone else and as a Secretary he was not bound to follow any other influential Authority.
