Shahzada elected new chairman of SDPT

LAHORE (PR) - The Board of Trustees of Sheikhupura Dry Port Trust (SDPT) Saturday unanimously elected Shahzada Alam Monnoo as SDPT Chairman. The Board of Trustees, met here Saturday, also co-opted three new members of the Sheikhupura Dry Port Trust including Shahzad Ali Malik of Euro Guard (Pvt) Limited, Waqar Ahmad Mian of Mian Tractors & Traders and Haji Maqsood Butt of Aruj Garments while the board unanimously nominated Chaudhry Noor Hussain Sahi as SDPT Secretary. The Board of Trustees, under the Chairmanship of Shahzada Alam Monnoo, discussed in detail the need to limit the term of the Chairman and it was decided to fix the term of the Chairman for three years. The Board also elected Shahzad Ali Malik as Co-Chairman of the SDPT. Speaking on the occasion SDPT Co-Chairman Shahzad Ali said that the sole objective of having another Dry Port at Chichukimalian in Sheikhupura district was to make the trade and industry competitive by reducing delivery time and cost. He said that the project was well on way and it would be fully equipped. He said that the successful models of private sector-managed Dry Port already exist in the shape of Faisalabad Dry Port and Sialkot Dry Port. He informed that Faisalabad Dry Port has a capacity to handle 33,000 export cargo containers. It can handle as many as 5500 import consignments per annum, having a value of over Rs80 billion. He said that the Sialkot Dry Port can handle up to 29,000 export cargo containers worth over Rs46 billion. The Co-Chairman also paid rich tributes to MNA Ayyaz Sadiq, Chairman NA Standing Committee on Railways, for playing a proactive role for the smooth sailing of Sheikhupura Dry Port Project.
