QUETTA - A complete shutter-down strike was observed Saturday in Balochistansprovincialcapital against a rocket and gunfire attack on people belonging toShia community in Hazara town of Quetta the other day that killed six people and left 10 others seriously wounded. The strike call, jointly given by Hazara Democratic Party and PashtoonKhowaMilliAwami Party, was also supported by other political parties including the Anjuman-e-Tajiran Balochistan to condemn the killings. The strike paralysed commercial activity in the provincial capitalas marketsand trading centres at Jinnah Road, Shara-e-Iqbal, Liauqat Bazaar, Abdul Sattar Road and Double Road remained closed. The traffic on the roads was also thin.Stringent security measures were adopted to avert any untoward incident inthe city. Heavy contingents of police, Frontier Corps and other lawenforcement agencies were deployed at different places.
