LAHORE The Artists Association of Punjab has organised a symposium on Art-National Demand and State Initiatives at Alhamra hall here on Saturday. Former federal minister Sardar Asif Ahmed Ali, Association Chairperson Ijaz-ul-Hassan, Principal College of Arts and Design Principal Dr Rahat Naveed and others spoke on the occasion.The speakers highlighted the need for organising more social activities to present the soft image of the country. They said the artists should portray the societal need in their artwork. They said that the welfare of the artists were always remained the least priority of the governments. Since the creation of Pakistan, the government has not turned intention towards them (artists), Dr Rahat said. However, the late former Punjab chief minister Hanif Ramay was kind towards the welfare of artists because he was art lover, she added. Ijazul Hassan said that none of the tehsil headquarters had local clubs or galleries so that there exhibitions and social gathering could be arranged there.
