Lahoreclinched the 2nd Motorway Police National U-16 Hockey title after beatingSialkot5-3 in a penalty shoot in the final here at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Lahoreovercame spiritedSialkotwith much labour as the first half ended in a 1-0 in favour ofSialkot.Lahoreleveled at 1-1 before the close of the second session and the match ended in a 2-2 draw at the full time. Both the teams exhibited a higher brand of quality hockey and lively moves were seen. The fortune of the match changed hand in hand.Lahoredemonstrated better conversion skills and accuracy in the penalty shoot out to win a thrilling battle. ForLahore, the main contributors were Shan (two goals), Rana Sohail (one) and captain Afsar Yaqoob (one goal). Faizan scored one goal for the losers in sixth minute while Ali Raza and captain Nohaiz Zahid Malik also added one.

FaisalabadroutedMultan8-2 in a classification match for the third place. The winners led the first half 4-1 and the second 7-2, scoring goals at regular intervals with agility and anticipation. Sohail hammered superb fours goals forFaisalabadwhile Dawood contributed three and Abu Bakar added one. For the losers, M Adnan and Qaiser Zaman hit one goal each.

Pakistan Hockey Federation president Qasim Zia was the chief guest at the occasion and witnessed the final match with keen interest. PHF secretary M Asif Bajwa, tournament director Olympian Tahir Zaman and a number of former hockey Olympians were also present there.

At the end, Qasim Zia gave away the trophies and prizes to the players and the officials.
