LAHORE - A six-year-old girl was burnt alive when a fire broke out in her house in the Ghaziabad area on Tuesday.

Resident of Tajpura Scheme, Kalsoom Javed, was sleeping when the fire broke out in the bedroom during the loadshedding, shortly after a burning candle fell on the bed. The daughter of Javed sustained burns and was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her burns. The police handed over the body to the family.


Sadar division police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested six criminals of Bali and Raju dacoit gangs and recovered six pistols and bullets from their possession.

The arrested criminals were identified as Muhammad Iqbal, Baber alias Babri, Muhammad Hussain, Riaz alias Raju, Irfan alias Faridi and Zohaib alias Zaibu. Further investigation is underway.


Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Khlaid Dad Lak has warned the elements found involved in display of arms and aerial firing on the polling day would be taken to task.

The City police are also directed to take stringent action against the miscreants and troublemakers to maintain peace on the polling day.
