RAWALPINDI  - Accountability Court (AC) Rawalpindi Number 1 on Tuesday awarded former Chairman OGRA Tauqir Sadiq three years imprisonment in absentia for not appearing before the court despite notices in Rs 82 billion scam.

AC No 1 Judge Shahid Hafeez gave three years imprisonment to Tauqir Sadiq in absentia for not appearing before the court in a corruption case of Rs 82 billion. The court also declared him as Proclaimed Offender (PO) in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that AC had also declared Tauqir Sadiq a PO on March 17, 2013 and ordered confiscation of his property.

During the hearing, AC Judge Shahid Hafeez heard the ex-OGRA Chairman corruption case. NAB prosecutor requested for punishment under 31-A due to continuous absence of Sadiq from the court proceedings.

Later, the court declared Tauqeer Sadiq a Proclaimed Offender and ordered to seize his property.
