LAHORE-Jerry Liu, Vice president, Shandong Ruyi Group of China, at a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday agreed to provide technical assistance to Qauid-e-Azam Apparel Park and make investment in the project.

During the meeting, matters regarding promotion of cooperation in textile, garments and energy sectors, in addition to pace of implementation of the agreements reached between the Punjab government and Shandong Ruyi Group, also came under discussion.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that several Chinese companies were working in Pakistan and the growing collaboration between the Punjab government and Chinese companies was strengthening friendship between the two countries. He said China was a sincere and reliable friend of Pakistan and Islamabad was proud of friendship with Beijing. He said that investment by the Chinese companies in energy and textile sectors in Pakistan was increasing. He said the Punjab government was setting up Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park over a large area near Motorway and investment by Shandong Ruyi Group in the park was welcomed. He said the Chinese group would provide technical help for the establishment of Apparel Park.

The chief minister asserted that the consortium of Chinese group would set up two coal power plants of 660 MW each in Sahiwal and the foundation stone of these plants would be laid during the current month. He claimed setting up of the coal power plants would be a starting point for a comprehensive programme of power generation from coal in the Punjab. He averred an atmosphere conducive to investment had been created by the Punjab government and all-out facilities were being provided to local and foreign investors in the province.

Jerry Liu said cooperation with the Punjab government in energy and textile sectors was being further enhanced. He said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif believed in hard work and determination and his working style had motivated his group to invest in the Punjab.
