LAHORE - Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf on Thursday came down hard on the corruption-tainted cops and dismissed from service four station house officers (SHOs).
The operations police chief also awarded punishments to 25 other policemen on various charges – ranging from negligence to misuse of powers, a police spokesperson said.
The officer awarded punishments to the cops who appeared before him in the Orderly Room to give explanations and respond to different allegations at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh. Speaking on this occasion, the DIG said that there is no room in the police department for the incompetent, corrupt, and dishonest cops.
He also reiterated that the “black sheep” working in the police department would be exposed and given exemplary punishment.
According to officials, the DIG awarded punishments to 29 policemen after allegations of corruption, misconduct, misuse of powers, and negligence proved true during departmental inquiries.
An official said that most of the cops were penalized on public complaints as the department has strictly been monitoring the working of the policemen.
Inspector Mobeen-ud-Din Butt, ex-SHO Islampura, was dismissed from service for misuse of powers and SHO Shafiqabad police station Mustneer Ahmed was dismissed from service for registering a fake case against an ordinary citizen. Similarly, SHO Nawab Town Inspector Rafi Ullah was dismissed from service over corruption, and SHO Garden Town Inspector Asad Abbas was terminated from service over misuse of powers.
The DIG also awarded punishments of different nature including reduction in pay, demotion, and censure to 25 other policemen.
6 transferred: Punjab Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on Thursday ordered transfers and postings of following six police officers.
According to a notification, Lahore SSP (RO) CTD, Awais Ahmed was transferred and posted as Sheikhupura SSP (RO) CTD, whereas Muhammad Maroof Masood Safdar, was transferred and posted as Lahore SSP (RO) CTD.
Lahore SP (Operations) Civil Lines division Imtiaz Sarwar, was transferred and posted as SP (Operations) Cantonment division while Muhammad Nadeem was transferred and posted as Gujranwala SP Civil Lines division against an existing vacancy. Ismail-ur-Rehman was posted as Lahore SP (Investigation) Cantonment division against an existing vacancy. Similarly, Okara SP (Investigation) Farrukh Raza was transferred and posted as Faisalabad SP Jaranwala division against an existing vacancy.
