KARACHI - Pir Mazharul Haq, Senior Minister in the Sindh Govt, and Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza dashed to London on Friday to hold talks with MQM Chief Altaf Hussain to sort out differences between PPP and MQM. They will also discuss MQM's prospects to join the Federal govt and also take up possible amendments to Local Bodies system, sources in PPP revealed to The Nation here on Friday. The MQM had rejected the PPP offer of three ministers in the Federal Cabinet and one State Minister. MQM demanded six Federal Ministers in the Cabinet and also wanted to sort out their differences in the Sindh on job quota and distribution of the funds and possible amendments in the Local Bodies system. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has already left for London alongwith City Nazim Mustafa Kamal. PPP sources said that High Commissioner to UK, Wajid Shamsul Hassan would also join the PPP team to hold dialogue with MQM leadership in London. When The Nation contacted PPP Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri, she said that PPP led by Senior Minister including Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza went to London to hold meeting with MQM founder leader Altaf Hussain and its routine political meeting. She said that PPP wants to make amendments in the Local Bodies system with the consultation of all political parties including their coalition partner MQM. She said that former President Musharraf introduced Local Bodies system to prolong his rule and not to serve the people of the country. 'President Asif Ali Zardari wanted to serve the people and unite all the political forces of the country to provide better relief to the people and larger interest of the country', she added. She said that PPP led govt wants to introduce amendments in the Local Bodies system. She said that PPP wanted to take on board all the political forces to be united to cope the challenges faced by the country. Replying to a query about threat of Taliban to Karachi city, she said that Sindh govt has been reviewing MQM reservations saying that if there is any threat to the Sindh, PPP would play frontline role to eliminate the threat. 'Our Shaheed leader Benazir Bhutto was victim of religious fundamentalism and PPP leaders always played front line role to eliminate religious extremism from the country', she added. A meeting of MQM Rabita Committee was held after Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani's invitation to MQM to join the Cabinet. Insiders said that due to the reservations over the number of slots and unavailability of the desired portfolios, MQM had declined to join the Federal Cabinet as the party leadership said that PPP leadership had not offered the MQM to join the Federal Cabinet. Meanwhile,, sources said that PM Gilani on Friday, contacted Governor Sindh Dr Eshrat-ul-Ebad Khan on phone and formally invited MQM to join the Cabinet. The sources said that on this development MQM call its Rabitta Committee meeting in the next 24 hours to decide the Prime Minister invitation join the Federal Cabinet.
