ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Television (PTV) Workers Association held a protest demonstration to express solidarity with the workers of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) demanding of their reinstatement here on Saturday. The protestors were holding placards inscribed with slogans like sack the incompetent President of ZTBL, reinstate the sacked office-bearers of CBA union and reinstate the sacked innocent employees of ZTBL, chanted slogans in favour of their demands. Akram Bunda, Liaqat Tarar, Mushtaq Qadri and Raja Sheraz were among the prominent leaders of PTV Workers Association who took part in the protest demonstration. The representatives of the workers union also delivered speeches there in front of the National Press Club. The union leaders demanded of the authorities concerned to restore the ZTBL employees including Iqbal Khattak, Arshad Jat, Mohammad Hussain and Mohammad Shaukat immediately who were dismissed by the sitting president of the bank. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) and All Pakistan ZTBL Employees Union (CBA) had already staged a protest camp for last couple of days before the National Press Club against the dismissals of the bank employees. They alleged that the Bank President was incompetent as well as a non-professional banker and did not fulfill the requirements to be the President of a bank. They further said that the Chairman was also a member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), holding the office of a political party and was not eligible to hold any office in a government organisation. They said that according to the criterion as published in the newspapers to fill the slot of Chairman of ZTBL, the candidate must have a masters degree in agriculture, finance, business, and economics or related fields with relevant experience of 15 to 20 years but the present Chairman was not even a graduate. They blamed the President that he had started victimisation of the Bank employees on political grounds and turned the peaceful environment of the organisation to a battlefield by transferring innocent employees to far-flung areas. The protestors said that the appointment of the President was illegal and based on political ground that was damaging the credibility of the organisation.
