MARDAN - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, said on Wednesday that they will face difficulties, dangers but will provide a bright future to our next generation for which education is the top priority of the provincial government. “Through education we can solve the problems of Pakhtuns and if we ignore education it will be great mistake,” he stressed.

He expressed these views while addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of a new building of Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU). Vice Chancellor AWKU Dr. Ihsan Ali also addressed the meeting.

Member National Assembly (MNA) Haji Himayatullah Mayar, MPA Ghani Dad Khan, ANP District President Farooq Akram Khan, Commissioner Mohammad Adil Khan and other high-ups of the district administration were also present at this occasion.

The Chief Minister said that AWKU, in a very short period of time, has achieved great success. He said that AWKU was his dream and when he started AWKU in Post Graduate College Mardan building three years ago, people told him that how could he establish this university because such projects need a lot of fund but the AWKU has continued the journey of progress. “And today I am laying the foundation stone of 18 building on the same time and day on the land purchased for AWKU”, he added.

Haider Hoti said that Mardan was ignored in the last 60 years and with the development of other districts of the province he also gave due right to Mardan district and established university, medical college, ring road, children hospital and other mega projects.

The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor AWKU and his team and said that with his efforts the AWKU has now achieved a major progress and students of Mardan district and other areas are studying in this university. He said that he appreciates the efforts of Vice Chancllor Dr. Ihsan Ali and he will request in written form to the Governor to give extinction to Dr. Ihsan Ali for other term.

He added that the provincial government is facing challenges of terrorism, crises of power, unemployment and government is giving full attention to resolve these issues on priority basis. He said that to finish the power crisis in the province the government has preferred a plan to start a number of hydro projects.

He said that after completion of these hydro projects the power crisis will be overcome in the province. He added that the provincial government has established Kyber-Pakhtunkhwa Oil and Gas Company and it will very soon also start work.

He said that the provincial government has started a project on the name of “Nevi Sahar Laptop Scheme” through which the government will distribute laptops among the talented students.

The Chief Minister further said that the ANP-led provincial government was committed to develop the province.

“We believe in serving the masses irrespective of their political affiliation so in future if our party is in government or in opposition we will support these projects,” he added.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Ihsan Ali said that due to the efforts of Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and his team, we have now been able to establish the AWKU-like institution in the district. He said that work is continued on the new building of AWKU.
