EPD seminar counts anti dengue feats


LAHORE – The Punjab Environment Protection Department (EPD) organised a seminar ‘Dengue Control in Punjab – a Success Story’ at Alhamra on Thursday to celebrate government’s success in combating the menace this year.
MNA Pervaiz Malik was the chief guest at the seminar, which was attended by Environment Secretary Saeed Iqbal Wahlah, Dr Waseem Akram, senior officials of EPD and a large number of students and NGOs members.
Environment DDO Muhammad Younas Zahid and Dr Waseem Akram gave detailed presentation on dengue and government measures against the menace.
Malik said that not even a single causality was reported this year that was due to efforts of the government. He urged the masses to come forward and join hands with the government so that dengue could be eliminated completely.
Wahlah said that the environment department officials’ working day and night made this possible that this year no causality of dengue was reported. He said that eight anti-dengue squads were established for this purpose and they identified hundreds of breeding sites.
