BAHAWALPUR - Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar said that everyday increasing inflation and unemployment have made the life of common man miserable. "About 40 percent of the people are living below the poverty line," he said and added that corruption of Rs6 billion is being made annually in Pakistan.

He said that the people have to give bribe even for their legal tasks. He added that the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are controlling the Pakistani economy. "The PPP and PML-N are hoodwinking the nation therefore in the elections the people will not reelect them. The government is looting the national resources and is the biggest hurdle in the country's development," he said.

Dr Wasim said that "Zardari tax" had been imposed on everything. The PPP-led government had given the people nothing except inflation, unemployment and drone attacks. He said that the people were fully aware of the reality in slogan "Roti, Kapra, Makan".   He said that those sold the national integrity would not be forgiven by the nation.

He said that the circumstances in Karachi and Balochistan are the same, adding that about 9,000 people had lost their lives in the last four years in Karachi according to media reports.  He said that free and independent foreign policy is necessary for the country, observing that free and independent foreign policy demands improved relationship with Iran and China.

He further said the Jamaat-e-Islami would not hesitate to render any sacrifice to bring about Islamic revolution in Pakistan and purge the country of corruption.
