KARACHI – The Home Department on Wednesday retrieved its decision of reward money on 11 gangsters out of a total of 35. Earlier, the government, through a notification on April 25 sought to offer reward money on as many as 35 Lyari gangsters. This decision, among others, did not go well either with the PPP or the defunct Lyari Peace Committee, which parted away with the ruling party eventually. The government had launched an operation against gangsters, in which over 150 people, including 14 policemen, were killed. According to sources, these did not include any gangster death. Afterwards, the Home Department announced head money on 35 high-value gangsters. On Wednesday, the department de-notified reward money on 11 of them as they appeared to it not that rigid. These included Shakeel, Zafar Langra, Ayaz Niazi, Sohail alias Dada, Shahid Magsi, Farhan aka Mota. According to sources, Shafi Pathan, Sikander alias Siko and Badshah are the three commanders of Lyari gangsters.
