5pc surcharge on advance Railways booking

LAHORE  - The Pakistan Railways has imposed five per cent surcharge on 48-hour advance booking for all passenger and express trains.
The railways administration in a meeting headed by Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique yesterday also decided to cut off 25 per cent subsidy on rail cars fares operating between Lahore-Rawalpindi.
The department, however, has not explained that how much subsidy it already gives on Rail-Cars fare.
Railways spokesperson said that there would not be any extra surcharge on every booking before 48 hours of a train departure but if a passenger booked a seat for a train within 48 hours, he/she will be charged five per cent extra, he added.
The department also announced decrease 10 per cent fare of 12 trains for one month period. The trains where passengers will be given discount from November 15 to December 14 are: Badar Express (Lahore-Faisalabad), Ghori Express (Lahore-Faisalabad), Ravi Express (Lahore-Shorkot), Sargodha Express (Lahore-Sargodha), Lasani Express (Lahore-Sialkot), Mehar Express (Rawalpindi-Multan), Chenab Express (Sargodha-Lalamosa), Lalamosa Express (Sargodha-Lalamosa), Sandal Express (Multan-Sargodha), Sukkar Express (Karachi-Jacobabad), Samansarkar Express (Hyderabad-Mirpur Khas), and Badin Express (Hyderabad-Badin).
