MULTAN-Punjab Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana has said that the government has set up a number of new universities in South Punjab which will offer higher education opportunities to the youth of this area, paving way for the development of the country.
Talking to delegations of citizens here on Tuesday, the Governor said that four universities have been set up in Multan besides one varsity and a medical college in Dera Ghazi Khan. He further pointed out that sub-campuses of BZU are established in Vehari and Lodhran which would help lift higher education standard in South Punjab. He said that the government put special emphasis on accomplishing health, education, drinking water and sewerage projects. Citing examples, he said that Multan Institute of Kidney diseases was set up to offer top quality kidney treatment facility to the residents of South Punjab while work on Nishtar Hospital-11 project is also underway. The Governor further pointed out that work on installation of CT Scan machines at all District Headquarters hospitals in the province would be accomplished by March 2018. He further pointed out that work on water supply projects is also underway and water filtration plants were being installed in rural areas. “Supply of clean drinking water will protect rural population, which constitutes big portion of our population, from diseases,” he hoped.
He said that joint efforts were needed to resolve problems being faced by a common man and to offer him relief. “We need to provoke at mass level public service passion,” he asserted. He said that the incumbent government launched a number of development projects which had started yielding benefits. “Today people are enjoying projects like Multan metro. The metro and speedo busses have introduced the culture of luxurious and safe commuting in Multan,” he noted.
