KARACHI - Despite the Sindh government decision that no official in the province would be posted on 'Own Pay Scale,' there are many officials who being the relatives of provincial and federal ministers, are defying the decision and are OPS officials in different departments, sources in Sindh government told The Nation here on Tuesday. Sources said that Ameer Zado Kohati, a retired official, is still working as director of Malir Development Authority with the special permission of Sindh Governor House and federal minister on contract basis in grade 20. It is worth mentioning that several PPP leaders and workers in Arbab Rahim's government accused the Malir Development Authority director of selling prime land in Malir district. Another official in grade 19 in forest department, Rahim Bakhsh Awan, who retired on October 2, was trying to benefit from influence a federal minister to get fresh appointment on contract although the minister concerned was opposed to his re-appointment. Federal Minister Syed Khursheed Shah's brother Ahmed Shah, a 19 grade official, is working on grade 20 post as a chief engineer, Sindh Highway Department. The sources said Sindh Provincial Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq's brother, Pir Munawar-ul-Haq, who is grade 19 officer in Sindh Irrigation Department, is working against grade 20 post as Chief Engineer Development. It's recalled here that on April 29, 2008, Sindh government in its cabinet decision had decided that no junior official would be appointed on OPS. The sources said some powerful ministers in the Sindh cabinet were using their influence and defying the cabinet decision, as their relatives were getting privileges.
