HAFIZABAD - The Saddr Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized 1.6 kg of heroin from him.
According to police source, Azhar of Mohallah Hajipura Hafizabad was smuggling the contraband from Faisalabad in a car. On a tip-off, Inspector Tanveer Abbas intercepted the vehicle and seized 1.6 kg of heroin from the car on search.
A case has been registered against the accused under Anti-narcotics Act.
Anti-polio preparedness reviewed: Three-day anti-polio campaign is being launched in the district from October 15.
In this connection a meeting of different departments was held under the chairmanship of Acting DCO Sohail Ahmad Khan to review arrangements for the scheduled campaign.
On the occasion, he was told by EDO Health Dr Farooq Azam Tarar that 445 mobile teams had formed which were consisted of health department personnel to administer anti-polio drop to 1,76,485 kids below five years of age.
He director the health department officers to associate police, revenue, education and DCO office officials to ensure hundred percent success of the campaign.
