Chief Election Commissioner former justice Fakhruddin G Ebrahim has said that he is bound to implement the Supreme Court's decision on dual national case.

Talking to media in Election Commissioner Sindh Office on Monday, he said that an important meeting of the commission has been convened on Tuesday to discuss the issue of dual nationality.

Mr Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is highly serious over the law and order issue during the upcoming general elections and different proposals in this connection are under consideration.

The Commission is fully geared up to hold the general elections and efforts are being made to increase the number of polling stations in the next elections.

Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said that the commission is not ready at the moment for electronic voter lists, but added that transparent electoral lists were already prepared.

The CEC said some more time is required before the electronic voting system is put in place, advising the people to use their right to vote as the correct use of vote will determine the future of the nation.

“People should give their vote to qualified people for good governance,” he asserted.

Tomorrow’s meeting of the commission is critical, he said, adding, however, the Commission absolutely complies with the rulings of Supreme Court. A decision on the issue of dual nationality will be made in tomorrow's meeting, he added.
