ISLAMABAD – International Labour Organisation (ILO) is organising an award distribution ceremony for work done by photographers to raise awareness about child labour issues in the Country.

This award ceremony to take place on October 9, 2012 at ILO auditorium, ILO Office Islamabad, would feature EU Ambassador designate to Pakistan, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, as the chief guest while the other luminous participants, heads of various UN organizations working in Pakistan, foreign diplomats, representatives of employers’ and worker’s organization, members of civil society, media personnel and university students, would also be present

According to Mr. Zaheer Arif, Program Officer, ILO in collaboration with the European Union is implementing Combating Abusive Child labor II Project to support national efforts for elimination of hazardous forms of child labor from Pakistan.

Various programmes have been arranged to promote, create awareness on the issue at the National and provincial levels, through the project announced in March 2012, a national Photo competition on the fight against child labor and has encouraged the professionals, students and general public to enter their photographs related to child labor issues in this competition.

The event would also have an interesting stage and song performance by children, screening of documentaries by students of Fatima Jinnah and Islamic University, award distribution to winners of the competition, and showcasing of child labor pictures received from across the country.
