LOS ANGELES (BF): Bryan Cranston is set to make his Broadway debut this winter. The Breaking Bad star will portray former US president Lyndon B. Johnson in the play about the politician's first year in office, according to the New York Times. The outlet reports producer Jeffrey Richards confirmed the news on Sunday. All the Way is currently playing to sold-out crowds at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the Emmy winner has received positive reviews, although the production has received some mixed criticism.
The three-hour play was written by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Schenkkan and will be directed by Bill Rauch.
Bryan is the only confirmed cast member for the Broadway production.
Performances are tentatively scheduled to begin this winter, although a firm date has yet to be announced.
The actor has become a hot commodity in recent years and is launching several new projects now that his role as drug kingpin Walter White on AMC's critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad has reached an end.
Last month it was also announced the star would reprise his role as loathed boss Hammond Druthers on US TV's How I Met Your Mother.
