ISLAMABAD - Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ahmed Khan on Monday said that government wants the religious scholars efforts to yield fruit by striking a peace deal between the Talban and government.

“We appreciate religious scholar’s efforts to strike a peace deal between the government and Taliban. We want their efforts to yield fruit in greater interest of millions of people of Pakistan. However, there must be end to bloody violence that has engulfed thousands of innocent lives,” Chaudhary Nisar Ali khan said on Monday.

Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan made it clear that country’s powerful military has fully endorsed the government’s policy to end extremism and militancy in Pakistan.

“Pakistan army has expressed full confidence in current leadership and its modes operandi to bring peace and stability in Pakistan. It has also endorsed All Parties Conference that was called to discuss ways to bring peace and stability,” Nisar said.

Nisar, who have been very much critical of US-led drone strikes inside Pakistan, once again reiterated that these attacks violate the country’s sovereignty and assured that government would soon find the ways to bring end to these inhuman attacks inside Pakistan. “Government is trying to put end to drone strikes inside Pakistan,” Nisar said.

It is pertinent to mention here that country’s top religious scholars launched an appeal to the armed Taliban militants last month and the government to declare ceasefire unless the proposed peace talks produce results.

Earlier in September, 2013, the scholars, warned that some elements are trying to sabotage the dialogue process between the Taliban and the government.

Referring to this appeal, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that it honours religious scholar’s bid to convince Talban for cease fire.
