Plea against PU VC disposed of

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court yesterday disposed of a petition for being infructuous against Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran allegedly involved in sexual harassment case.
As the petition was taken up, Advocate Malik Owais Khalid, legal advisor of Punjab University, told the court that Punjab governor had set aside the Punjab Ombudsperson’s remarks against Dr Kamran due to which the petition against him had become infructuous.
He said the Ombudsperson gave remarks against him and did not pass any order. He further pleaded that Dr. Kamran did not harass her but the lady-petitioner wanted to defame him for ulterior motives. The petitioner-lady could not present facts before court, he said. The counsel requested the court to dismiss the petition against Dr Karman.
On other hand, petitioner Khujista Rehan said that Punjab governor did not give her an opportunity to be heard and set aside the remarks of ombudsperson against Dr Kamran after hearing him. The petitioner prayed the court that Dr Kamran be restrained from serving as PU VC and be penalized strictly for harassing her.
After hearing both sides, Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi disposed of the petition for being infructuous against Dr Mujahid Kamran.
