Local music application and website, Taazi has announced that it has crossed 100,000 downloads from the Google Play Store.

According to a handout the total registered users on both the Application and Website has crossed 150,000. Launched in August 2015, the site provides a platform to Pakistani artists to distribute and sell their songs to fans legally. Streaming on the website is free for the users but they must pay to download songs.

 Soon after launch, the Android app reached the number 1 spot in the trending apps section on Google Play Store, the management claimed, adding, in Music and Audio category its ranking is second highest.

The total number of songs and videos streamed has exceeded 5 million in the last month. MoreKthan 2,500 artists and dozens of record labels, have uploaded over 100,000 songs, the release said. The founder of the site musician, Haroon said that It was heartening to see that when given the choice, the Pakistani people choose a legal music platform. They have expressed that they stand in support for our music and musicians and the platform proudly enables them to do so. It is supporting Pakistani artists by marketing their work through social media campaigns and local events as well, he said.

Musicians hope this website will bring change. everything is beginning to change and Taazi is a big part of that change, said Rock star Ali Azmat. Adnan Dhool of the rock band Soch said that when they started it first they had no idea of an online platform, where artists could make money.
