Islamabad - World Bank mission team headed by Winston Cole, senior financial management specialist, visited the office of Auditor General of Pakistan. 

Rana Assad Amin, Auditor General of Pakistan, welcomed the mission and discussed the strategic plan of the department of auditor general of Pakistan and possible avenues of support by World Bank. The AGP appreciated World Bank’s earlier support and apprised the World Bank team of salient features of strategic plan and various steps taken to reform auditing and accountability process in the Pakistan Audit department. He also updated the mission that the department of the AGP had already taken various steps to make the Pakistan Audit & Account Academy as the centre of excellence and strategic training establishment on government auditing & accounting as well as public financial management (PFM) in the country. The PC-I for National Institute of Public Finance And Accountancy (NIPFA) at Islamabad is also under preparation. The centre of excellence is proposed to be a degree awarding institution on the above subjects.

The WB mission appreciated the ongoing reform efforts of the office of the AGP. They also assured to continue their support to strengthen Pakistan audit department.
