ISLAMABAD: Out of total 354 seminaries, 179 are unregistered in the federal capital, Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Ch Nisar Ali Khan told National Assembly on Friday.

In a written reply, the minister said that total of 175 seminaries were registered in Islamabad. Answering another question, he said that only one religious organisation was proscribed or banned by the Ministry of Interior during 2015 due to its involvement in terrorism. “The Interior Ministry banned Daish on July 15, 2015. The ban is also valid for its fractions or groups working under the name of ISIL/IS/ISIS,” he said.

He told the house that 837 inquiries are pending regarding fake/illegal processing of CNICs. Multiple steps are in place to curb fake CNIC processing.

Meanwhile, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal said that total of Rs48,728 million budget was allocated for construction of small dams during last four years. Current year budget allocation is Rs11,581 million.

Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economics Affairs, Statistics and Privatisation Muhammad Ishaq Dar said the actual loans obtained by the government stood at Rs1,985.9 billion.

He said government borrowed Rs1,349.3 billion to finance its fiscal deficit while borrowing from IMF stood at around Rs209.7 billion which was for the balance of payments and is reflected in foreign currency reserves, while the remaining is due to increase in credit balances of government accounts with central or commercial banks.–Staff Reporter
