LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq will announce the names of newly elected district heads of the party from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a ceremony to be held at Mansoora on Sunday.

In a statement issued yesterday, JI spokesman Amirul Azeem said that the elections at the district level had been completed. Ballot papers for these elections had been sent to the JI Arakan (members) last month and had been received back, he added. Azeem further said that JI was the only religio-political party in the country whose cadres from Union Council up to the highest level were filled by elected people.

He highlighted the distinct position of these elections was that nobody could offer himself for any office and the members elected their cadres by free will. A JI member could hold office of the district Ameer only for two terms, said the spokesman.
