ISLAMABAD -  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Friday said that Pakistan wanted to translate the friendly relations with Azerbaijan into a strong economic partnership.

He was talking to Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizaidi, who called on him at PM House.Congratulating him on his appointment as Ambassador of the Azerbaijan Republic to Pakistan, the Prime Minister extended warm welcome to Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizaidi.

The Prime Minister assured the ambassador of his government’s fullest cooperation and expressed the confidence that his service tenure in Pakistan would be successful and fruitful. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan wishes to strengthen its relations with Azerbaijan in various fields. He emphasised on translating the friendly bilateral relations into strong economic partnership with Azerbaijan.  “Our government focuses regional connectivity through economic cooperation to help people of the region realise their true potential. Enhancement of trade and business relations between Azerbaijan, Pakistan and amongst other countries of the region is our topmost priority,” he added.

Ali Alizaidi thanked the Prime Minister and expressed the confidence that bilateral relations between the two countries will improve with joint efforts of both the countries. SAPM Tariq Fatemi was also present during the meeting.

Later, Member PA Rana Mahmood ul Hasan met PM Nawaz Sharif and discussed with him the development projects in his area. During the meeting, Rana Mahmood ul Hasan appreciated the leadership role of the Prime Minister in taking the country out of multiple challenges in difficult times.

He said that the present government has successfully turned around Pakistan’s economy and has initiated mega infrastructure development projects across the country.

“The overall security situation of the country has improved significantly during the present govt. We are confident that under your dynamic leadership, Pakistan will transform into a truly vibrant, democratic modern state,” the MPA said. The PM said that the development and welfare schemes of the govt are aimed at improving the standard of living of the people. The purpose of our endeavours is the socio-economic uplift of the people and to make Pakistan a developed and prosperous country where equal opportunities are available to all, the PM stated.

He said that the people’s representatives should maintain an active liaison with the people of their constituencies to be apprised on their issues and also to have feedback on the ongoing developmental schemes in their respective areas.
