KHAIRPUR - A declamation contest on “Say No to Corruption” was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organised by the Character Building Society (CBC), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur under the umbrella of Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sukkur chapter on Friday.

Prof Dr Muhammad Yousuf Khushk, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Languages and Focal Person of CBC presided the event while Maria Qayoom Mangi, Deputy Director, NAB, Sukkur was the chief guest on this occasion.

Prof Dr Yousuf Khushk said: “The corruption in our society is like termite. It is our collective duty to eliminate the menace of corruption from the society.” He briefed the activities of the CBC of SALU and appreciated the role for strengthening the CBC SALU chapter.

Maria Qayoom Mangi said: “I am optimistic that our youth will play their dynamic and pivotal role in the eradication of the menace of corruption from our society. I have listened the fire brand speeches of youth which shows their high moral and commitment with nation in the fight against corruption.”

She said, NAB has adopted three pronged strategy which includes awareness & prevention, complaint verification, investigation and prosecution. In NAB there is combined investigation team (CIT) in order to conduct the investigation in judicious, transparent and fair play.

The premier anti corruption body of the country is fighting against corruption under its dynamic and visionary chairman and his strong, efficient and motivated team. She appreciated the efforts of the Vice Chancellor and her team for organizing different activities as part of awareness among the youth.

The students in their speeches said, our country at this juncture is facing serious challenge of corruption. The efforts of NAB are commendable against this menace. They said, it is the duty of the Government, individual, media, civil society and youth to fight against corruption. It has weakened the national fabric of the society.

Earlier, Essay Writing Competition on the theme United against Corruption and poster/painting competition were held in which large number of students participated. The position of the contestants will be declared on October 27on the eve of seminar.

A large number of teachers and students witnessed the competition.
