Wapda defend National Women’s Basketball title

LAHORE-Pakistan Wapda successfully defended their National Women’s Basketball Championship title by outpacing strong Pakistan Army with 49-29 points at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. 
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Ehsan ur Rehman Mazari was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while PSB Director General Col (R) Asif Nawaz, PBBF President Brig (R) Iftikhar Mansoor, Secretary Khalid Bashir, FBBA President Ejaz Butt, Secretary Ouj-e-Zahoor, DDG Admin Mansoor Ahmed Khan, M Azam Dar, Former PSB Director (NF) and other dignities were also present on the occasion. 
Wapda dominated the final right from the word go and maintained their dominance throughout the match and never allowed their opponents to fight back for the championship trophy. Wapda took lead of 14 points till the half time, making it 28-14points. Wapda’s ace players Sehrish Nawaz and Sidra Hakim played vital role for their side in retaining title as Sehrish scored 14 points and Sidra Hakim 12 while from Army, Fajar scored 9 points and Kashifa 7. 
In the third position match, hosts Islamabad Blues outclassed favourite Karachi by 31-8 points. Islamabad Blues were leading the match in half time by 25-2 with 23 points difference. Samna Mehboob scored 11 points, Amani Bibi 8 and Asma 7points from the winning side.a
