Lahore High Court on Tuesday asked the federal government to submit its response within 10 days on hiring US lawyers on behalf of Dr Aafia Siddiqui without taking her into confidence, a private TV reported. Barrister Iqbal Ahmed Jafferi pleaded before a single-member bench of LHC comprising of Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry that the government has acquired the services of US lawyers in violation of courts orders. He further maintained that Dr Siddiqui a Pakistani neuroscientist under US custody facing charges of assaulting US marines in Afghanistan, was also not taken into confidence on the appointment of US attorneys to represent her in the trial set to begin November this year. The bench issued a notice to Attorney General for submission of the governments stance on the issue within next 10 days, the channel added.
