Rangers have unearthed a torture cell in Yusuf Plaza near F.B.Area and recovered a huge cache of weapons while nine persons involved in extortion and dacoities were arrested from various areas of the metropolis in the wee hours of Thursday. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession. Rangers sources said that a raid was conducted early on Thursday morning in Yusuf plaza where they found a torture cell and large quantity of arms and ammunition. Rangers took into custody at least 14 suspected persons including target killers from various areas of the city during search operation Rangers also arrested five alleged target killers from Banaras Colony during search operation. Rangers said that all the arrested suspected were shifted to undisclosed place. Ranger officer said that the Rangers with help of sniffing dogs carried out door to door search operation in various areas of the metropolis. According to police sources, Jamshed Quarter Police conducted action in an area near Lasbela and arrested four dacoits involved in robbing passenger buses Police recovered four TT pistols, bullets and mobile phones from their possession. Meantime, police arrested two suspected extortionists from Rizvia colony of the city. Another man, Faizan, involved in extortionist activities was arrested from an area near Sindhi Hotel and a TT pistol, mobile phone and cash totalling Rs. 28,000 were recovered from his custody. During snap checking in New Karachis industrial area, police arrested two miscreants and recovered snatched motorcycle, 15 mobile phones and two TT pistols from them. Meanwhile at least four more persons including a police official were killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Thursday. According to details, some unidentified persons shot dead a youth named Ghulam Rasool, near Sohrab Goth Police Station while body of an unidentified man, stuffed in gunny bag, was recovered from a car parking of Jinnah Hospital Ward No 12. In another incident of violence, police official, Javed, was shot dead by some unidentified armed men riding on a motorcycle on Bakra Peery Road in Malir. The deceased was working in investigation department of Malir city Police Station. In Machar Colony, a political party worker named Mumtaz, was allegedly shot dead by Farooq. Police have arrested Farooq and recovered arms from his possession. Police registered cases against the criminals and started investigations.
