LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should himself tender resignation instead of firing lower staffers of the provincial government for failing to take effective measures to control the dengue epidemic, demanded Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Punjab. PTI Punjab chapter leaders Ahsan Rasheed, Andleeb Abbas, Saloni Bukhari, Talat Naqvi and others made this demand on Wednesday while expressing serious concern over the havoc created by the dengue virus and failure of the provincial chief executive for sufficient practical steps to control the outbreak. They while claiming complete mishandling of the dengue crisis on part of the Punjab government alleged that the government was hiding the real figures of dengue victims. The PTI leaders said that according to government figures 970 cases of dengue cases have been reported along with three deaths and claimed that the real estimates stated this was only 25 percent of the real figure and the actual number of the victims was over 4, 000. Meanwhile, APML leader Javed Badar has demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the dengue mishandling in Punjab. He said that lives of the victims of the dengue epidemic might be saved if fumigation was being carried out by using real spray instead of fake.
