LAHORE - Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary Asif Bajwa said that though the main aim of the federation was to provide international exposure to young players and yet they were doing well in the Asian Champions Trophy and victory against Korea was a big achievement of them. Talking exclusively to TheNation, PHF Secretary said: Pakistan Hockey Federation is providing maximum chance to young players to show their skills and to prepare them for mega event including 2012 Olympics. During their learning period, if these players perform in big matches, then it will be a big achievement of them. The PHFs main aim is to make them ready for mega events. He said that the players were doing well and the federation was satisfied with their performances and hoped that the team would continue their good show in tomorrows crucial match against India in Asian Champions Trophy which decides the fate of finalist. To face South Korean team was not an easy task but they played superb hockey and defeated them by 3-2 which is a good omen for hockey boost and if they carry on performing well then Pakistan hockey will regain the pasts lost glory, Bajwa claimed. I wish Pakistan team best of luck and hope that they will use their full energy to outpace India in the Wednesdays high-tension match and if they win against arch-rivals then it will be a dream-come-true and will be a big achievement of the young team, Bajwa concluded. Former Olympian and junior hockey team coach Anjum Saeed said that it was a great comeback of Pakistan which defeated tough team like Korea and hoped that they would carry on their efforts against India also. The brilliant performance by green shirts shows that they are in gaining momentum and will come to ground with dedication and enthusiasm and to play for Pakistans victory against India. Talking about defeat by Japan, he said that the management was trying to utilize new combinations to make sure to remove ups and downs in the teams performance. Former Olympian Danish Kaleem said that the team performed well against Korea and by beating them they proved that they had potential to win big matches. The victory against Korea boosted morale of the team and I hope they will also perform well against India and qualify for the final, he concluded.
