Peshawar - The death toll from a firing incident at Matni area increased to nine after two more injured died in the hospital on Saturday.

Hospital sources said that at least six people were killed and some others injured after gunmen opened firing on a car in Matni area, the outskirt of Peshawar on Friday late night. “Unknown armed shooters targeted a car near Gulzar Chowk in Matni area around midnight. The locals who came out of their houses after hearing gunshots also became victims of the bullets,” police said. The police rushed to the crime scene before the attacker could flee and engaged them in a gunfight. However, the attackers managed to flee.

According to the initial report prepared by police said that some unknown armed men targeted the vehicle of one Nasarullah, a resident of Quetta. Meanwhile, the locals also came out from their houses while hearing THE gunshots and became victims of the bullets sprayed by the attackers. There were total 35 to 40 attackers who ambushed the car. The report further revealed that one of the attackers also got bullet wounds but other militants took him away with them.
