The top judiciary of Pakistan and AJK on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote bilateral coordination in line with the recent judicial reforms introduced in Pakistan to ensure dispensation of speedy and inexpensive justice to the masses.

The AJK Supreme Court sources told this scribe here Saturday that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in a meeting of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee, held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who is Chairman of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee, presided over the meeting. The AJK Chief Justice Muhammad Azam Khan and High Court Chief Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal represented the AJK judiciary in the meeting. CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, FSC CJ Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan, BHC CJ Qazi Faez Isa, SHC CJ Mushir Alam, PHC CJ Dost M Khan and LHC CJ Umar Ata Bandial signed the MoU. The sources said that the MOU will help to strengthen the AJK judicial system to ensure dispensation of speedy justice to the masses.

“Besides, it will also help in to improve the judicial system in AJK for strengthening the service delivery component of judiciary through coordination and harmonizing judicial policies within existing legal framework”, they observed.
