Police nicked 119 hardened felons in August

HAFIZABAD
As many as 119 proclaimed offenders including 24 wanted in heinous crime have been rounded up in the district during August, said DPO Muhammad Zubair Dareshak here on Saturday.
He said that the police had seized 1,935 grams heroin, 1,638 of grams charas, 3,150 grams of opium and 231 litres of liquor from scores of drug peddlers during the last month. Furthermore, the police have smashed three working stills and have arrested three liquor sellers during August.
He said that special crackdown has been launched against anti-social elements and strict action was being taken against work shirker and corrupt cops and added that he has recently dismissed three cops including an SI on different charges. He directed all the SHOs in the district to perform their duties honestly and without any fear or favour and warned that he would show zero tolerance to the inefficient and corrupt policemen.
OUT OF ORDERED CCTVS: Close-circuit television cameras installed in the city by spending million of rupees during the past five years have become inoperative. These CCTV cameras were installed in the city to keep eye and identify the anti-social elements and terrorists but due to negligence of the Civil Defence Department they were lying inoperative for the past several months.
