Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services Dr. Darshan told the House during question hour that there are about 34 companies that are exporting their medicines to different countries. He said the pharmaceutical exports currently stand at 200 million rupees and efforts are being made to enhance the exports of the medicines.

He said it is the first time that the government introduced a drug pricing policy in order to bring stability in the prices of medicines and that the federal government is working in collaboration with the provinces to ensure quality of pharmaceutical products. Raids are conducted to curb the menace of spurious drugs.

He said during the tenure of the present government many people involved in the business of spurious drugs were apprehended and prosecuted

Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Production Rao Muhammad Ajmal Khan told the House that the government has prepared a comprehensive automotive development policy to attract more investment in this sector and ensure quality of locally manufactured vehicles. He said some investors have already shown interest in the manufacturing of small cars.

Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the House that a comprehensive plan has been prepared to improve the electricity transmission system. He said efforts are being made to improve the rate of recovery from consumers, which have made it possible to make regular payments to power producers and minimize load-shedding.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad told the House that a uniform prayers timing is being observed in the Capital Territory and talks are being held with the provincial authorities to extend it to other parts of the country as well. He said that a meeting was held with Sindh Government in presence of Ulema where in the initiative was appreciated. He said that arrangements are also being made for prayers in all educational institutions.

Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs Khalil George told the House that a separate section has been established in the Ministry of Religious Affairs to monitor the services of tour operators towards the Hujjaj.
