The Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) has once again become the talk of the town with the Lahore High Court ordering a suspension of its construction. The Punjab government has decided to file an appeal against the court verdict in Supreme Court, in order to save the multi billion dollar project and ensure its timely completion. To most, OLMT will be a major turnaround in the fortune of the city, to the rest, it is just a wastage of time and money. However, with almost 50 per cent of the civil works being completed, OLMT is fast becoming a reality.

It is pertinent to mention here that the project will certainly benefit a large number of commuters as it has the capacity to transport more than 250,000 passengers on a daily basis. The project will not only transform the public transportation system but will also help in resolving traffic woes that are being faced by the citizens of the city. As the population of the city increases at a rapid pace, the availability of quality public transport is the need of the hour. Therefore, any unnecessary criticism regarding the project must be stopped as it has the potential to transform the transportation system of Pakistan in the years to come.
