Peshawar - District price review committee approved increase in prices of various commodities here on Tuesday.
Hanifullah, Assistant General-I in the Peshawar district administration, said the prices of various grocery items were being raised by 5 to 50 percent while a meeting about milk prices would be held next week.
He said a meeting of the price review committee was convened by the district administration to approve the new prices. Representatives of traders also attended the meeting, which discussed hike in prices of different types of pulses, tea, sugar, bread, milk, etc.
He said that prices of some items were not changed, while a few were reduced. However, the prices of pulses and some other grocery items were increased.
Also, milk price may go up to Rs150 per kg and yogurt up to Rs160 per kg. However, the meeting requested a review of the decisions in another meeting to be held next week.
An increase of up to Rs50 in the prices of different types of pulses was approved.
SOPs’ violations continue: Meanwhile, many private schools remained open in most parts of the city, while wedding ceremonies also continued in some wedding halls. Similarly, vehicles and cars with several persons seated in them are also witnessed while masks are also not being used in public places.
Marriage halls remained open at various places including GT Road, Bilal Town, Sarki Road, Faqirabad, Tehkal, and University Town as authorities failed to ensure SOPs.
Private educational institutions at Yousafabad, Ittehad Colony, Pahndu Chowk, Hussainabad, Bakhsh Bridge, Badabera, Ring Road and other places were also open, while the decision to close shopping malls at 8pm could not be implemented.
