DC visits Bahawalpur Museum, inspects development work

Bahawalpur  - Secretary Local Government and Community Development South Punjab Muhammad Altaf Baloch has said that Bahawalpur Waste Management Company needs to adopt a policy of self-reliance to become an independent entity so that the provision of quality sanitation facilities to the citizens is provided.

The company should formulate a working plan as soon as possible for the provision of standard sanitation facilities in Bahawalpur city as well as in the entire division.  Additional Secretary Local Government South Punjab Muhammad Rashid, Section Officer Companies Local Government South Punjab Muhammad Imran, Section Officer Taxes Local Government South Punjab Timur Khan, CEO Bahawalpur Waste Management Company Muhammad Naeem Akhtar and Chief Financial Officer Company Mohammad were present on the occasion. 

Imran Ashraf was also present in the briefing.  Earlier, CEO of the company Naeem Akhtar while briefing the Secretary Local Government said that due to non-availability of funds, the company has been asked by the Punjab government to maintain cleanliness in the city and meet the expenses.  During the briefing, he said that the company lacks resources and the vehicles have run out of time. 

He further said that the new machinery  funds are required for the procurement. 

He also apprised the Secretary Local Government about the progress in assigning cleaning services to the company in Yazman, procurement of modern machinery and working plan. 

Secretary Local Government South Punjab Muhammad Altaf Baloch briefed.   He said that the company should finalize the revenue generation plan for self-reliance and debt repayment as soon as possible and send it to his office so that the laws of sovereignty could be finalized.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Ali Kathia  on Tuesday said outlook of the Bahawalpur Museum would improve after the completion of ongoing development work.  During his visit to the museum, he said all these developments would be completed on time to ensure availability of the museum for the public earliest.  The DC visited the Memorial Hall and Gallery and Front Elevation projects. 

The director Bahawalpur Museum briefed the deputy commissioner about the development work.  The DC called the pictures of Tehreek-e-Pakistan and Bahawalpur Gallery as the assets of the museum. 

Bahawalpur Museum was playing a central role in promoting our high traditions, culture, handicrafts and arts, he added.

He said that Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar was working for the promotion of culture.  The DC said that after the completion of the construction works, it would be possible to add more pieces of art and antiquities.
