JHANG - The electioneering for general elections is underway briskly and a neck and neck contest is expected between Ghulam Bibi Bharwana and Syed Asad Hayat in NA-88 here.
This is a unique constituency as it comprises voters of Jhang and Chiniot districts.
Ghulam Bibi Bharwana won elections in 2002 and 2008 from the constituency when Chiniot was not a district.
She defeated Syed Asad Hayat and once again the contest is between the two traditional rivals.
Syed Asad Hayat is brother of Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat, former federal minister and Sajjada Nashin of Darbar Hazrat Shah Jewna.
Bharwana is contesting elections on a PML-N ticket while in the 2008 election she had a ticket of the PML-Q.
Syed Asad Hayat is contesting as an independent. Pir Ataullah Taunsvi, Sajjada Nashin of Taunsa Sharif, is also in the run in NA-88 against Ghulam Bibi Bharwana and Syed Asad Hayat.
He is expected to get a share of votes of prominent clans in the constituency including Bharwanas, Syeds and Sipras as Pirs and Mashaikh have great influence in the area and they can change results of the election.
