Bomb weighing 14-kg defused foiling major terrorist bid

KARACHI- An attempt of a major terrorism bid in Karachi was foiled by law enforcement agency today by defusing a bomb planted in city's busy commercial area.

A bomb weighing 14.5 kilograms was found concealed in a sack and placed alongside Khalid Bin Waleed Road. Discovering the explosives, police immediately called the Bomb Disposal Squad. The BDS team confirmed it was explosives weighing over 14-kg along with 2.5-kg attached with a detonator and defused it. Police and Rangers, meanwhile, searched the area, cordoning off its entry and exit points. It may be noted here that BDS teams lack professional gadgets and kits to execute such sensitive operations.
