OUR STAFF REPORTER FAISALABAD - A youngster was killed when the patrolling police opened fire while intercepting two warring groups here on Monday. According to detail, two rival groups, over unknown dispute, exchanged hot words which turned into a quarrel at Khurianwala Chowk. Meanwhile, the police patrol deployed at nearby police picket reached the scene. A police cop in an attempt to disperse the enraged members of both the groups fired into the air during which a bullet hit a youth identified as Rana Faryad leaving him critically injured. He died while being shifting to hospital. Heirs of the deceased and other citizens held a protest outside Civil Hospital Faisalabad against the police. They blamed that the accused cops had soft corner for the opponent group and that the cop intentionally shot dead Rana Faryad. They also demanded the authorities to take action against the police cop involved in the firing. On the other hand, the police officials were of the view that it was inadvertent incident but legal action would be taken against the police personnel who opened fire at Faryad.
