ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a reception in honour of Immad Wasim on Saturday, who hit the historic six against Sri Lanka in the last T20 and won the match for Pakistan.

ICCI acting president Ashfaq Hussain Chatha, senior vice president M Shakeel Munir, ICCI sports committee members, representatives of Islamabad Cricket Association and Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) were present at the occasion.

Chatha said Rawalpindi/Islamabad region had produced great cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar, Azhar Mahmood, Sohail Tanvir, Rao Iftikhar, Nadeem Abbasi, Sabih Azhar and many more. “It is an honour and a matter of pride for us to have another emerging cricketer like Immad Wasim from this region,” he added. He hoped that Immad would prove a great asset for the country and also lauded the role of Islamabad Cricket Association and Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association for promoting genuine talent.

He also offered Chamber’s all out help and support to Islamabad Region president Shakil Sheikh and said he was influential in developing sport infrastructure in the Twin cities, which made the players of this region able to showcase their talent to catch the eyes of the selectors. .A senior chamber leader Naeem Siddiqui gave Rs 20,000 cash award to Immad as a token of appreciation.

Immad said his aim is to play a more active and leading role for the team and his country. Immad thanked his coach Taimoor Azam, ICA president Nasir Iqbal, Islamabad Region president and PCB governing board member Shakil Sheik and media for highlighting his case. “I had to wait long to represent Pakistan but I believe I have developed more mature as a player in this time and it would help me to prolong my career,” he added.RISJA chairman Abdul Mohi Shah lauded ICCI role in patronizing the sports and sportspersons.
