rawalpindi - A gang of 8 robbers blocked the road at 22 Mile Tareet area in Murree by placing a tree and looted several commuters at gunpoint, reliable sources told The Nation here on Saturday. Police managed to arrest four robbers and recovered weapons and booty from their possession. However, the other four are still at large while police is conducting raids in Murree forests to arrest the fleeing robbers, sources added.

According to sources, a gang of 8 robbers set looting stage at 22 Mile, near Tareet Police Chowky, by blocking road with a tree at 1:30am. The robbers then stopped five vehicles and made the passengers/drivers hostage at gunpoint and snatched cash, mobile phones and other valuables from them, sources mentioned. They added that after committing crime the robbers fled towards Murree forests.

On receiving information, a heavy contingent of police headed by SHO Malik Rafaqat reached the spot and started chasing the fleeing robbers, sources added.

The fresh incident of robbery has spread a wave of panic among the transporters who demanded of police to enhance patrolling in the hilly area to thwart such incidents in future.
